Inner Light in 2020

At the time when many of us are staying at home it’s very important to look for the happiness with in, and trying to level out our minds and hearts. Searching for that inner light became my mission at the times of Covid 19.  I hope I will inspire others to do the same.

Vibrations

Instrumental music to me is a perfect reflection of an abstract painting. Using simple sounds musicians are able to create very varied melodies and rhythm. There are no words so we are not  bounded to the objects, landscapes and people. We all are experiencing music different based on own unique experiences. Slightly changing angles of lines, basic lines, shapes, and temperature of colors I am creating an illusion of fleeing of music and movement in a canvas and challenging 2D surface.

Iridescence

Iridescence is by far one of my brightest abstract series. I have been always mesmerized by color reflection and perception, and how we as humans are able to see most amazing colors reflected by some objects. It could have been an oily film on the rain puddle, the dragonfly wings, the soap bubble.
*Iridescence (also known as goniochromism) is the phenomenon of certain surfaces that appear to gradually change color as the angle of view or the angle of illumination changes.

 Refractions

Refraction is the phenomenon of light being deflected in passing obliquely through the interface between one medium and another. In my series of abstract oil paintings, “Refractions”, I explore instances of refracted light passing through objects, changing angles, creating multiple views and repetitions of itself.  Light takes on many variations that each becomes its own unique entity. In my paintings I contemplate the limitless refractions of light passing through our surroundings, and I attempt to celebrate the process of refraction.

 Chiaroscuro

As a classically trained artist I was trained on the works of the masters, Da Vinci, Caravaggio and Rembrandt were some of the master of chiaroscuro. Being in a complete owe and adoration of great masters I embarked on my own search of depth, light and shadow in a painting but without a definition of a shape, and the boundaries of an object or figure. I wanted to truly embrace the light and shadow and explore the rhythm and movement.

 Coral Reefs

The beauty of Coral Reefs has always amazed me. However I feel like if I would try to repeat exactly as Coral Reefs are in nature I would take away from fluidity and variety of Corals and underwater vegetation. So I intended instead of making a very stiff copy of real Coral Reef, just to give an impression of it of moment being submerged and experiencing a world that is not ours, a mystery that is a Coral Reef.

 Gardens

Gardens are sub-series within the same theme of Refractions.  These series of paintings inspired directly by the nature of Saint Johns area. It is not an ideal copy of plants and flowers but rather an abstract impression of surrounding nature. As an avid gardener and enthusiast, I draw my inspiration from the patterns, colors and rhythm of my own garden. The most peaceful moment full of joy comes from observing my little green kingdom.
